Sudden Cardiac Arrest Statistics
The STMCA performs 100% review of all attempted cardiac arrest resuscitations. Response and outcomes are continually measured in an effort to improve our cardiac arrest survival rate. As part of this effort, the STMCA also shares its data with the Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival (CARES). CARES is a national registry for out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA) initiated by Emory University and the Centers for Disease Control. Sharing our data helps our EMS system to compare itself with the rest of Michigan and nationally. We are proud to say that through the work of our providers, agencies, and hospitals, we continue to exceed the state and national rates in almost all measures.
